Summary: To foster and advance local leadership and discipleship initiatives through an internship program between local ministry sites, visiting churches and Youth World, specifically for the Quito Quest program.
Job Brief: Intern Coordinator will invest the majority of their time and skill by providing leadership in the development and implementation of a viable internship program. The goal is to facilitate a deeper relationship between local sites and Youth World in order to help resource leadership and discipleship initiatives in those communities and, in turn, recruit local youth to be a part of our summer internship program. They will also be in charge of recruiting North American interns and following up with participants from visiting teams.
Responsibilities:
Serve under the leadership of Youth World.
Invest a minimum of 20/hrs. a week in a specific and assigned ministry site in the city. 14hrs/week in office-related administrative work, and 6hrs/week doing professional development adding up to a total of 40/hrs a week.
Participate in all related-church activities at sites investing in and implement whatever help needed.
Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content in the afterschool programs.
Work with the sites and identify target audience training needs. Aid in training local staff.
Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.
Participate in all Quito Quest and related Youth World meetings.
Report to Quito Quest Director on a weekly basis.
Abide by all Youth World rules with the understanding of living above reproach.
Intern Coordinator will continue to take Spanish lessons, an Advanced Low level of Spanish is required for this position.
Act as the point person with short-term hired staff and interns
If asked by Quito Quest Director, intern coordinator will participate in helping run a short-term team throughout the week. This includes managing budget and meals, praying for the “life” of this team, being responsible for all leadership, care, decision-making for this team - including facilitation of itinerary, assigning, and supervising any support staff, and aiding in orientations and debriefs.
Intern Coordinator will support needs and strengths of the ministry site working alongside leadership and could invest in different areas such as: teaching English, micro-enterprise, youth ministry or children’s ministry, communications, ministry site visits
Requirements: Must be at an “Advanced Low” level of Spanish. Continue to deepen and grow personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Attend all Quito Quest and Youth World meetings and complete assignments given by the Director.
To Notice: Being flexible is one of the highest qualities we look for. Tasks and job description might be altered depending on Intern Coordinator’s talents and gifts. Understand that there will be a 3-month and a 6-month review period where the Quito Quest Director in full support of the board of directors of YW will assess performance and contribution to the Quito Quest program; based on that, Intern Coordinator will be asked to continue with the program.
Work Status and Reporting: This is a full-time, exempt position for 40 hours per week and reports to the Youth World’s Quito Quest Director.
