Do you have a heart for children with disabilities? Do you have experience with disability education? In this region of the world, children with disabilities live in the margins, and are neglected, abandoned, and actively mistreated. Not only is there a negative stigma attached to them, but the education system within the community does not have the training or resources to come alongside these children and teach them. We are looking for an individual who has experience working and teaching youth and children with intellectual and cognitive disabilities, and desires to use this experience in a cross-cultural, long-term context.
This person would help develop a school and accessible resources for children, working alongside local community members such as teachers and parents to provide a basic knowledge of how to equip and educate these children. They would also work with a local therapy center for at-risk youth and families, developing individual education plans for those they work with. A degree or background in Special Education, or a similar field, is required. Helpful skills include a pioneering spirit, flexibility, the desire to learn from the culture itself, and previous cross-cultural experience.
