We serve among refugees in Athens, focusing primarily on Persian-speaking people from Iran and Afghanistan. We seek to disciple and train new believers, find creative ways to help our brothers and sisters provide for their basic needs, and facilitate medical care for refugees in partnership with local medical professionals.
Refugees come to Greece hoping to find a future for themselves and their children. Instead, they are living in crowded conditions with poor nutrition, receiving little help from the government and most large aid agencies. Overwhelmed, they struggle to find a place to stay and a way to feed their family. Finding any form of income for a refugee without legal status is next to impossible, particularly in the current Greek economic crisis.
One particular and often unmet need is quality medical care. We have developed relationships with doctors who have a desire to give their time and expertise, including general practice, cardiology, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, gastroenterology and dental. Together we provide regular medical clinics to those needing care.
Through relationships built during medical clinics, we have been blessed to see God establish a Persian Fellowship, which continues to grow as more refugees come to know the Lord. With many new believers comes the need for discipleship and training. We want to make disciples who make disciples, to see exponential growth as refugees come to the Lord and then share the Gospel with others.
Many of the new believers in the fellowship have faced persecution living in refugee camps or crowded flats. Our team has helped them find apartments, and we provide monthly food packs to a select group in need. We have dreams to create small businesses to help our brothers and sisters provide for their basic needs.
We appreciate your prayers as our ministry develops, and as our team works together towards our goal of Integrated Community Transformation proclaiming and demonstrating God’s amazing love among refugees in Athens.
