Novo Sarajevo is one of four municipalities of Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its territory is approximately 10 square kilometres with a population of over 75 000 inhabitants. The population is nationally mixed including Bosniaks, Croats, Serbs and minorities. It has several mosques, Orthodox Church, two Roman Catholic churches, Evangelical church, Baptist Church etc.
However, society is deeply divided and in need of reconciliation and forgiveness. Up to the conflict in the 1990’s it has been one of the most developed municipalities in Yugoslavia. Most of the industry has been destroyed in the war, so the rate of unemployment is high and there is a wide range of social needs.
Originally from Croatia, Tomislav and Lidija Dobutovic were sent by the Croatian Baptist Union to work in Bosnia and Herzegovina to bring transformation through sharing God's love. They have recently joined One Collective UK to enhance their work and bring transformation to the Community of Novo Sarajevo.
The work they carry out includes church work and leadership, denominational and evangelical alliance leadership as well as the transformation of society through small business development, providing equipping for new skills, charity work, refugee work, work with children and more.
More than 20 years after the end of the war in Sarajevo, divisions and long term impact can still be seen. You can partner with Tomislav and Lidija in sharing love and bringing transformation.
